Nikki

Buckwood’s Brush Dale Vanishing Act

Nikki was brought to our kennel the spring of 2024 when she was 10 months old. After training her for two months, Nikki ran her NAVHDA Natural Ability Test. During the test Nikki had very solid points even during the tracking portion, she tracked then held point on the pheasant. Nikki got a maximum score in her test. She has begun training for higher levels of testing and we are very pleased with how she is progressing.

Many people who meet her find her very goofy. She likes to wag her tail and do a howling woof at you. Something to see, for sure! She is one of the goofiest dogs we have had. Mostly she does this woofing to get your attention. Nikki loves people and wants to meet everyone. In the house she is very affectionate and wants to be next to you. She is a very calm dog in the house. Even when she unfortunately had a small injury and had to be cooped up for 2 weeks, you would have never known she wasn’t getting her daily runs.

When working she is determined and has a very methodical hunting style. We have found Nikki has a strong natural desire to point and has been very steady for a young dog. Nikki loves tracking! When we run all our dogs together, you’ll find Nikki losing sight of a dog on purpose, then she will track and bark following the other dog’s scent that was left. Such a fun and outgoing dog. Nikki has been hunting pheasants, woodcock and grouse in her first hunting season this past year. She has a great natural zigzag searching style and checks in with us. Nikki has very strong pointing instincts with a beautiful white flag. We have enjoyed taking her out and watching her honor other dogs on point as well. We look forward to watching her continue to develop into a great hunting dog.
