Beaker is from Brush Dale Kennels in Iowa and now lives in Verona, Wisconsin with Chris and Sarah Worley. Beaker is a very attractive male with extensive furnishings and a beautiful flagged tail. He weighs approximately 50lbs and is above average in height for a male Small Munsterlander. In the home Beaker is a spoiled house dog who typically is found on the couch relaxing. The calm nature is due to his, at minimum, 1 hour off leash time every day either training or playing. Beaker likes to follow Chris around the house waiting for his time to go outside and train.
While hunting, Beaker, is a very cooperative dog with lots of drive and determination. Beaker covers ground effortlessly and has a stunning point when he enters the scent cone and locates game. He has hunted various specious such as; pheasants, sharptail, ruffed grouse, woodcock, chukar, ducks, and rabbits. Beaker is “laut” on furred game. This means that he will bark on a rabbit track or when blood tracking a deer. His tracking capabilities and locating of down game is exceptional. Beaker has retrieved all shot game for Chris and has not yet lost any game. This is one of the great qualities that is well known for the Small Munsterlander breed.
Beaker has been a very easy dog for Chris to train as a novice handler. Chris completed his first Natural Ability Test with Beaker and received a maximum score! This is also due to Beaker’s high cooperation and eagerness to please. Chris also tested Beaker in the NAVHDA Utility test at only 2 years 4 months old. That is extremely young for such an advanced test. Even through this test, Beaker did a fantastic job and received a Prize 2. The biggest struggle during the test is that Chris did not finish teaching Beaker to be resent at the duck search. During the duck search, Beaker was sent out to retrieve a duck and did so within 5 minutes. The test requires a 10 minute search, so Beaker was asked to be resent but didn’t understand what Chris wanted. With a little more training he would have most likely resent. Also, it is not uncommon when training that Beaker will do a 30 minute duck search. That takes a lot of drive and persistence!
