Canyon is from Brush Dale Kennels out of Iowa. She is very cooperative and has great desire to please when hunting in the field. She is amazing on the track. During her Natural Ability test many people complimented her use of nose. When released to track down game you would think she is just taking off and not sure if she will find the game with how fast she is following the track. But sure enough, here she comes back with the bird in her mouth. In the house she is very affectionate and calm in nature. Canyon gives very sweet kisses and wants to be with her humans.

Canyon has been with us through three hunting seasons. During her first season, she had a ton of exposure to wild pheasants on a hunting trip to Minnesota. When back in Pennsylvania we went out and hunted Ruffed Grouse and released pheasants on PA State Gamelands. Last year Canyon’s season was cut short with fall/winter litter. We still managed to take her to South Dakota to hunt more wild birds. She lives for working birds! Canyon did great in South Dakota finding prairie chickens and sharptail. This year we used Canyon as a guide dog and she did not disappoint. Her training has gotten her to be very staunch and steady on birds. We also hunted her in Minnesota this past year and was so proud of her tracking and holding tight on wild pheasants. My shot birds were thanks to her! She has also been a fun dog to train. During the summer of 2024 we started training her for the NAVHDA Utility Test. Canyon is very eager to please and loves training. She has been developing well through her training and just needs a little more time to mature for the Utility Test. We plan to test her in Utility in 2026.
